What is Trauma?
Trauma is a deeply distressing experience that can leave lasting psychological and emotional scars. For neurodiverse individuals—those with ADHD, OCD, ASD, and other conditions—trauma can intensify existing challenges such as sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation difficulties, and social interaction struggles. These heightened difficulties can lead to increased anxiety, frequent mood swings, and a greater sense of isolation.
Research shows that neurodiverse individuals are more likely to experience trauma due to factors like bullying, social exclusion, and stigmatization. Misunderstanding and lack of support can also prolong exposure to traumatic situations. At Ideal Psychology Group, we recognize the unique impact of trauma on neurodiverse individuals and provide specialized, compassionate care to help them navigate and heal from these complex experiences.
EMDR
Are you tired of feeling trapped by the weight of your past?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Response) is a groundbreaking therapeutic approach that addresses the emotional and psychological impact of traumatic experiences. Trauma (meaning anything that overwhelms a person’s system), whether from major life events, childhood struggles, or distressing memories, can create emotional blocks, anxiety, depression, and even impact relationships. EMDR offers a structured, research-backed method to process and heal from these wounds. EMDR's unique approach taps into your brain's natural healing mechanisms, reprocessing traumatic memories in a way that lessens their impact. It's like finding the key to unlock the door to your liberation.
Internal Family Systems
Ever feel like there's a battle going on inside you? Like different parts of yourself are pulling in opposite directions? IFS is like a roadmap to understanding and sorting out these inner conflicts. By showing your parts attention and kindness, you can heal old wounds, put those inner struggles to rest, and find a way for all the parts to work together.
Schema & Attachment
Schema therapy goes beyond surface-level symptoms to uncover the root causes of your struggles. It helps you identify deeply ingrained negative patterns that have been holding you back, often since childhood. By understanding where these patterns originate, you gain insights that empower you to create lasting change.
Somatic Therapy
In our fast-paced lives, we often disconnect from our bodies, ignoring the signals. Unresolved traumas and emotions often become stored in the body as physical sensations or tensions. By working with the body, you will access insights and emotions that are difficult to express through words, fostering self-awareness and making choices that align with your well-being.
